When you join Design Group as an Electrical Engineer, PE, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join our Architecture/Engineering Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy. What You’ll Do You'll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals. Design power distribution, motor control, and lighting systems for industrial facilities in collaboration with other licensed engineers and designers Review and approve electrical designs for low and medium voltage electrical power distribution systems Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors on new construction/renovation projects Manage electrical design specifications and drawings Mentor junior professionals and EITs to become knowledgeable in low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems Estimate design budgets and schedules Work on multiple projects simultaneously Lead projects through the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases Present design progress directly to clients both in-person and virtually Review and approve contractor submittals, and respond to RFIs Conduct site observations during design, and installation verification walks during construction Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team What You’ll Bring A minimum of ten years of experience with low and medium voltage power, normal and emergency lighting, lighting controls, motor controls, protective relay design, grounding, lightning protection, PV arrays, generator and UPS standby power, conduit, or cable tray routing Extensive experience in executing projects for industrial facilities with a focus on the highest level of quality, cost effectiveness, and safety The ability to train and lead electrical engineers and designers Experience with multi-discipline large capital projects involving owners, general contractors, contractors, and system integrators A solid understanding of design/build (engineering and construction) Familiarity with facilities document control systems Experience reviewing and updating power system models utilizing SKM or ETAP (EasyPower preferred) Experience with project close out including reviewing construction specifications, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and construction submittals Experience working with designers to produce 2D plans using 3D BIM modeling software CAD experience (Revit preferred) The ability to perform and teach electrical design calculations (voltage drop, short circuit, overcurrent coordination, connected load, touch and step potential, CT burden, N-G resistor sizing, cable pull tension) Experience in the technical application of the following building codes: NFPA (70, 70E, 30, 101, 110, 780), NESC, IBC, IFC, IECC, ASHRAE 90.1 Proficiency in written and verbal technical communication including generating reports and conducting group presentations The ability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines across multiple offices A bachelor of science in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited institution An active Professional Engineering (PE) license in at least one state and a willingness to obtain licensure in additional states as necessary Our culture and commitment to our people is what sets us apart. The approximate pay range for this position is $130,000-$160,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
