Job Summary:

The Maintenance Level II – Grounds employee must be sufficiently skilled to perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks without supervision.  Must be able to supervise some full-time and part-time staff.  This is an at-will position. Other duties and responsibilities Include:

1. Responsible for the mowing and trimming of all district parks and turf areas weekly during the growing season, using variety of mowers, tractors, and trimmers.
2. Responsible for layout, striping, and maintaining soccer softball, football and baseball fields.
3. Establish and maintain new turf and schedule fertilizing and spraying of turf.
4. Landscape work-planting and trimming trees, shrubs, and flowers, maintains landscape beds.
5. Repair damaged recreational items in field such as tennis court nets, basketball courts, soccer goals, playground equipment and shelters.
6. Ability to repair and perform preventative maintenance to playground equipment.
7.  Assist with trash removal of all district parks.
8. Remove snow from parking lots, sidewalks, and throughout the Park District, as needed.
9. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as checking fuel levels, cleaning and inspections, greasing, etc.
10. Attend district-wide trainings, crisis trainings and staff trainings as directed.
11. Must participate and maintain CPR certification, offered by the Park District.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent.  Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to obtain an Illinois Pesticide Operator's License, have prior experience in parks maintenance, and be able to have flexible hours during prime seasons.  Must have a valid Illinois Driver's License and be able to provide own transportation.

Schedule and Pay:

This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt hourly position.  This position is scheduled to work Monday - Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM (40 hours per week with additional hours on evenings and weekends as needed, including an on-call schedule).  Hiring range is $20.00 - $23.00 per hour, DOQ.
