Position Description: The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for fulfilling the outreach and community engagement mission of the Shafer Gallery in addition to assisting the gallery director in all aspects of managing, curating, and displaying works in the Shafer Gallery and managing the Barton Foundation art collection. Position Responsibilities: 5.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. 40.00% - Community Involvement and Education Curator:
Manage the Mull Family Educational Art Cart, take outreach programs to public schools and other institutions, interact with community groups and visitors, create customized visitor experiences, execute receptions for each show, create workshops, open houses, and family events for a variety of demographic groups. 20.00% - Information Specialist:
Work with Communications Department to: maintain and update websites and create interactive digital Gallery viewing experiences, coordinate Vortex Online student exhibit, create video/ streaming receptions and video events, Use digital media to create community art show catalogue, year end reports and other graphic material to promote awareness of and attendance at gallery events.

35.00% - Exhibition and Collections Assistant/Preparator:
Assist in: indexing and conservation of objects in the 900 plus collection, maintaining loan and acquisition records, preparation of work for display, packing and shipping works from traveling exhibitions, hanging exhibits, setting lighting (gaffer), preparation of tags and educational materials for each exhibit, tracking purchases and preparing requisitions, supervising student employees, receptions and other exhibit events.
Expectations: Interact with the public as the friendly face of the Shafer Gallery. Job requires extreme tact and courtesy to all stake holders. Be prepared to do regular moderate physical labor.
Comfortable using new technologies and digital processes. Be prepared to conduct and participate in occasional events and workshops outside of regular office hours Interact with work study and student employees with a fair and patient attitude. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience -
? Six months to two years of similar or related experience. Education - A Bachelor's degree. Interpersonal Skills - Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation. Other Skills -
A Bachelor Degree is required. Degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Art History, Communications or other related. MFA preferred.

Experience using Adobe products, PowerPoint, Prezi, video editing and web editing experience. Strong visual design sensibilities.
Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computer, printers or record boxes. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity. Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office or classroom. Wages/Other:
The starting hourly wage for this position is $19.73 to $22.21.
