What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Designer position at Basepair?
Genomics is transforming medicine but data analysis and interpretation are the biggest bottlenecks. Basepair’s mission is for scientists, physicians, and ultimately people to extract actionable insights from genomic data to help with healthcare research, drug discovery, and personal health decisions.
Basepair is an enterprise B2B SaaS for analytics and visualization of genomics data. Our customers include biopharma, molecular diagnostics, services, and some of the world’s top medical hospitals, e.g., Harvard Medical School, Stanford Univ, etc. We are funded by VCs, angel investors and have a front-row seat for the latest breakthroughs in life sciences.
We are looking for our first design hire to start as an individual contributor and then build a design team. Our goal is to help genetic scientists to become data scientists. We need to ensure that our SaaS product is highly intuitive and easy to use. Basepair is a dynamic, fast-moving, and fun environment with new product launches, an amazing team, and often tight timetables.
Responsibilities
Own the design from kickoff through iteration, execution, and delivery.
Working directly with the product and customer teams to do customer research and refine new feature ideas.
Translating user stories and customer data into wireframes and product flows
Work closely with the development team to communicate and quickly iterate on feature designs
Identify and help conduct user interviews and usability testing
Contribute your design thinking skills to other touchpoints (marketing, social, etc.)
Qualifications
5 years of experience in a design role in SaaS, preferably in enterprise B2B
Strong ability to empathize with the end customer, especially non-technical users
Experience in the UX process, including research, information architecture, wireframing, etc.
Expertise with using Figma for prototyping and collaboration
Knowledge of data visualization best practices
Prior experience in startups at seed/series-A level is a huge plus
