Continuous Improvement / Learning Development Specialist - Monaca, PA
We are seeking a Continuous Improvement / Learning Development Specialist and will be based in Monaca, PA to support the overall success of the Dispersions & Resins business in North America.

Formula for Success: You Will…
OpEx and Continuous Improvement:
Develop and implement projects to improve the unit’s manufacturing processes, using statistical methods and lean tools to analyze process data improve productivity, reliability, and quality. Proficient in Lean Six Sigma tools, including Value Stream Mapping for leading teams in identifying areas of focus for optimal return on investment (Green Belt level). Work with the Quality & Continuous Improvement Leader in the development and execution of the long-term OpEx plan.
Lead Yellow Belt-trained employees (typically operators and lab technicians) on projects to develop their skills and ensure success in learning and results. Advisor role for this same group of employees as their capabilities grow. Keep an active list of projects for the next teams. Capable of delivering Yellow Belt overview training.
Learning & Development:
Maintain and improve the unit’s training and learning programs. This includes the development, implementation, and documentation of all training curriculums, serving as the unit Learning & Development Coordinator. Expert in SuccessFactors. Ensure that training (including procedure integrity) is consistent, up to date, and effective – including field evaluations. The incumbent delivers critical live training across all teams to ensure training consistency within the unit. Manage and conduct annual fit testing for operations teams. Provide all new employee training, with feedback sessions at predefined intervals to evaluate effectiveness of training and progress of the employee.
Develop content for unit training, both specific (e.g., JSA, critical procedures) and general (e.g., fundamentals of emulsion polymerization, plant safety concept), including video when appropriate. Coordinate training with site/external training providers to ensure compliance.
EHS:
Primary responsibility for unit SOPs in a PSM/RMP environment. Manages the annual review processes, continually developing a unit brand for tying all procedures into an increasingly recognizable and coherent whole. Manages plant qualification process for operators to ensure progress and proficiency in all designated plant areas.
Process Safety Management Responsibilities:
Process safety roles and responsibilities across the organization are clearly-defined and include an expectation to raise, and authority to respond to process safety concerns. Senior leaders are held accountable for process safety performance. Employees understand the importance of process safety as it applies to their jobs and are responsible for following and contributing to the work processes to achieve improvement in company process safety performance
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
Technical/Vocational training required. AS/BS Degree in a technical field is preferred. Related equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree Lean and Six Sigma yellow/green belt certification required. If incumbent does not have certification credentials, he/she will be required to obtain yellow and green belt certification. Must be able to apply statistical process control and problem-solving techniques. 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a minimum of two different positions in a manufacturing environment required. Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required. Working knowledge of Minitab is a strong plus, will be required. Microsoft Project and SAP skills are preferred. Must be able to work under limited supervision, primarily guided by specific assignment objectives. Possess strong analytical and mechanical aptitude skills, and excellent individual and team skills. Ability to influence operators. Must possess interpersonal communication skills working and collaborating successfully with other functions (Engineering/Maintenance/Contractors) Must have practical application experience with process safety pertinent to the chemical industry. Demonstrated field application of OSHA Process Safety Management and US EPA Risk Management programs.
