Lab Technician - Monaca, PA Where the Chemistry Happens We are looking for talented individuals like yourself to be responsible for analytical testing of our latex products: Acrylic Copolymers, Carboxylated Styrene-Butadiene (XSB), and Coater Ready. The site manufactures over 90 products for the global business unit EDN Dispersions & Resins that are sold into primarily 6 markets (adhesives, paint, construction materials, fiberbond, paper, automotive). The site located on the Ohio River near Pittsburgh is a bulk manufacturer into tank trucks and railcars. Our production is high volume batch polymerization in 10 reactor systems in a 24x7 operation. Your quality orientation with responsiveness, attention to detail, and politeness will be a key contribution to the success of our team. In addition to the quality group, you will interact routinely with logistics, operations, engineering, technology, and other business functions. The site is PSM / RMP where process safety, occupational safety, and environmental stewardship is essential to our operational discipline. Product quality is certified by ISO9001:2015 and our focus on Operational Excellence / Continuous Improvement are key to our business relationship with our customers.Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Formula for Success
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Metrology/Chemistry or related field OR 2 year Technical degree in Analytical Testing with a minimum 6 months laboratory experience OR High School Diploma or Equivalent with minimum 2 years of relevant industrial lab experience
- The laboratory analytical skills to accurately measure physical properties (e.g. pH, viscosity, solids, PSD) and composition (e.g. GC, HPLC, FTIR, titrations) for Latex products.
- Ability to operate various computer-controlled instruments, and testing equipment found in laboratory setting, ie., GCs, HPLC, FTIRS, Viscometers
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, ie., Word, PowerPoint, Excel and data entry and pulling information from LIMS (IQS), SAP, and other software packages.
- Well-developed analytical methodology, attention to detail and an insight into problem solving.
- On occasion, must be able to lift up to a maximum of 30 lbs.
- Must be able to follow all applicable safety procedures including correct personal protective equipment.
- Must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and interact with management and employees within the organization
- Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime when required
- Lean-Sigma knowledge to lead 5S or Yellow Belt Projects.
