Where the chemistry happens
A Material Handler I is part of the Site Services group of Coatings that is the backbone of the Southfield, MI facility! You will provide support for the warehouse, material fulfillment, as well as shipping and receiving functions.
This is a highly interactive position in a fast-paced environment, requiring effective communication skills.
During your shift as a Material Handler, you will
- Be loading and receiving bulk and packaged product.
- Transfer chemicals and re packaging. Labeling containers per BASF, OSHA, and DOT specifications.
- Complete other logistics support requirements as needed. Stage of materials.
- Be familiar with chemical material handling related to safety and industrial hygiene.
- Maintain assigned inspection and or housekeeping responsibilities.
- Use personal protective equipment to perform hazardous materials duties related to spill response and clean up activities.
Work within OSHA / Site Safety Standards
If you...
- Have a High School Diploma or GED
- Have minimum 1 year of Warehouse experience
- Possess knowledge of shipping procedures and DOT regulations for the shipping of hazardous materials.
- Can lift and bend requiring physical exertion when handling materials, drums, or equipment. Ability to lift 50-60 pounds.
- Have ability to stand and walk in work environment majority of time.
- Have experience with SAP (helpful) and Outlook.
