As a Turnaround (TAR) Manager you will create chemistry by………
Leading all aspects of the Seneca site turnaround activities. The Seneca site turnaround is held over a 2-week period annually, usually in March. The position will also have responsibility for all Maintenance planning and scheduling functions at the Seneca site, to include both Mechanical and E&I crafts. The position is responsible for the preparation, execution, and post shutdown phases of the turnaround to enable fulfillment of established safety / environmental, quality, schedule, and cost objectives. The TAR Manager has the responsibility of leading the Seneca site Turnaround organization in capturing the applicable scope elements, developing the strategy, and then executing the turnaround work activities to enable safe and reliable operation of the Operating units between turnarounds.

Your formula for success…
- Leveraging your educational background and/or professional experience as a leader/supervisor within a chemical, petrochemical or a similar manufacturing environment, you will lead the Seneca TAR Team and applicable site team members through the various stages of TAR planning, execution, and follow-up.
- Your in-depth knowledge of maintenance or construction work execution for all types of crafts typically used during TARs will be essential as you lead the development of an accurate TAR budget, schedule, execution plan and organization which meets Seneca’s objectives.
- You will bring demonstrated experience in organizational transformation and take a leadership role in developing a high-performance TAR organization focused on excellence in Safety, Planning and Execution.
- Your vast knowledge and experience in SAP and project management is essential for turnaround planning, scheduling, and execution in a chemical, petrochemical or similar manufacturing facility. This will allow you to identify concerns, risks, and barriers that could impede undertaking successful turnarounds, and develop countermeasures and contingency actions accordingly as you motivate and challenge to drive high performance.
- Through your leadership skills, you will ensure all planning and scheduling are completed as needed to ensure the site Maintenance activities can be completed as needed to maintain efficient and effective operational activities.
- Successfully leading projects, you will supervise day-to-day work during the TAR execution phase. A key component to the successful execution of a TAR is providing the necessary day-to-day guidance and decision making.
- Successfully engaging across the organization, you will collaborate with Maintenance Supervisors to continually improve job plans.
- Relying on your continuous improvement mindset, you will continually improve planning, scheduling, and job history data management to increase planning effectiveness and efficiency whereby work is planned to meet all applicable TAR milestones.
- Your professional hands-on experience in Maintenance Engineering in support of turnaround operations is essential as you ensure the development/clarification of TAR work scope and TAR Objectives to challenge and optimize the scope to be executed inside the TAR window. Optimizing scope should both reduce TAR spending and ensure facility post start-up operating objectives are achieved.
- Your strong organizational skills will be critical as you will ensure planning and organizational deliverables support the development and execution of effective TAR logistics processes. Effective TAR logistics are essential to achieve TAR budget and schedule targets.
- Your robust skills in planning, execution, and follow through will be challenged as you assist in establishing, tracking, and reporting on TAR performance KPI’s to help assess the effectiveness of the planning effort and identify areas for improvement, provide daily reporting to during execution phase, and assist in capturing TAR “Lessons Learned” and fully assesses the TAR after completion to continuously improve future TAR performance.
- Your commitment to safety will be critical as you ensure safety policies and procedures are properly integrated into the TAR planning and adhered to during TAR execution. Safety is a top priority.

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $110,000 - $130,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
