Positon Purpose
The Lead Quality Control Inspector is responsible for adherence to the Quality system on the shop floor by the Quality Control Inspectors via the collection, review and approval of project documentation. He/She shall provide support and back-up for the Quality Control Inspectors and shall be capable and responsible for inspection activities as listed on the Quality Control Inspector job description, with additional responsibilities as listed below.

Positon Purpose
The Lead Quality Control Inspector is responsible for adherence to the Quality system on the shop floor by the Quality Control Inspectors via the collection, review and approval of project documentation. He/She shall provide support and back-up for the Quality Control Inspectors and shall be capable and responsible for inspection activities as listed on the Quality Control Inspector job description, with additional responsibilities as listed below.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Quality Control Inspectors
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, distribution and control of the Quality Systems program in accordance with ASME, ISO:9001 and other regulatory requirements for all fabrication activities.
- Verify Quality Control Program is adhered to in day-to-day operations
- Maintain accurate documentation as required by the quality system (traveler, ITP, material log etc.)
- Work closely with production staff to resolve quality issues
- Review and verify completion of special project procedures and requirements.
- Support material control system as required.
- Verify fabrication progresses with the proper inspections, examinations and tests
- Coordinate and schedule AI activities
- Issue NCR’s when required and propose corrective action.
- Qualify welding personnel to AWS/ASME code and prepare certifying documentation.
- Develop and implement inspection plans based on blueprints and specifications
- Support periodic verifications that client and code specifications are being met
- Create and maintain personal and professional development plans and goals for the team
- Continuously improve quality control processes
- Support and maintain a Lean work environment
- Other Quality Control tasks as deemed necessary
- Experience as a Quality Control professional in a ASME/AWS code fabrication environment
- Strong leadership skills, including coaching and mentoring
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in a Custom Metal Fabrication Industry preferred
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply client and code specifications and determine fabrication requirements from the specifications
- Knowledge of weld processes and fabrication techniques used in structural and pressure component fabrication
- Ability to read and understand AWS, and ASME welding procedures and supporting procedure qualification records for the applicable fabrication
- Prior experience in a Lead Quality role is preferred
- Current CWI required
- Prior experience as NDE level II in PT and MT is preferred
