Job Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Procedure Nurse provides direct and indirect patient care, under the supervision of the department manager and the clinical direction of the Registered Professional Nurse, Physician or Surgical PA, provides technical and clinical support to the team in the procedure room. The LPN functions as part of the interdisciplinary health care team. The LPN serves as a resource for other team members and is active in the orientation of new staff. This individual must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to a wide range of ages, including obtaining patient status and interpreting information needed to identify patient requirements. In addition, the LPN Procedure Room Nurse acts as support to the Nursing Team Leader by updating supply charges, procedure room records, cross coverage and working on quality assurance projects.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program is required.Experience:1 year of work experience as an LPN orA new LPN with extensive experience as a tech in a procedure room or operating roomLicensure/Certificates:Current NYS licensures as a LPN or valid interim permit is requiredCurrent BLS certification is required within 6 month from date of hireSkills:Excellent communication skillsProficiency in required nursing skills relevant to area of practice. Demonstrates consistent excellence in clinical practice.Ability to multi-task effectively in a rapidly changing environment.Ability to lead approved work unit initiatives.Physical Requirements:Walking, standing, squatting and kneeling required throughout the shift.Ability to lift and position patients required.Must be able to identify and differentiate colors.Category I risk exposure as defined by OSHA.Wearing a lead vest for extended periods of time may be required throughout the shift
