SQL Developer

The SQL Developer I designs, develops, documents and maintains database and reporting environments to ensure that the performance, quality and reliability surpass the expectations of our customers. The position also aids the DBA's to assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues when needs arise on a daily basis.

Job Functions

• With guidance develops reports across various reporting platforms: SSRS, Logi Analytics, PowerBI, etc.
• Develop views, store procedures and functions for reports and database maintenance, archive and purge.
• Work with project management and support team on ensuring maximum performance and uptime of all customer systems
• Create and manage table indexes to improve database performance
• Keep the database schemas and documentation up-to-date
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs issues (data or DB code) and performance issues
• Share in a on-call rotation for customer support
• Be responsible for or be a contributor to documentation artifacts including functional requirements documents, design documents, and data management plans
• Input on decision making processes regarding how to implement new database functionality and design
• Assist Project Managers and Quality Assurance in development and testing efforts
• Create standards for our databases and decide whether developer database requests comply with our standards
• Travel to provide onsite implementation or troubleshooting support

Travel Requirements

• 20% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (IT or Computer Science)
• Working knowledge of SQL Server, TSQL, Visual Studio and TFS
• Ability to design, develop and create database objects on Microsoft SQL Server platform. i.e. Tables, Indexes, Keys, Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, Triggers, etc.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
