The Safety Specialist will support the Environmental Safety, Health, and Mission Assurance contract (ESHMA) in Cleveland, Ohio. Support the implementation of Safety Programs by providing the ability to evaluate, audit, measure, implement, and administer Safety and Occupational Health Programs in an industrial, construction, or laboratory workplace environment.

$75,000 - 93,000

Responsibilities
- Supports development, implementation, monitoring, and managing safety programs, policies, and procedures. Recognizes, assesses, and controls safety and health hazards in the facility, and works with internal departments to minimize occupational health and safety risks and manage compliance with applicable regulations.
- Conducts comprehensive safety and hygiene audits.
- Ensures compliance with all current safety regulations.
- Conducts accident investigations, and works with departments to correct safety hazards and develop preventative
- Performs job hazard assessments and recommends measures to control exposures, including substitution of less hazardous materials, personal protective equipment (PPE), work practice changes, and engineering controls. Prepares and conducts training classes.
- Writes reports documenting observations, sampling results, and recommendations.
- Plan and implement controls to effectively mitigate or control hazardous conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.

- This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
- Must have a bachelor's degree.
- Must have 7 years of Safety, Health and Environmental (E, S&H) experience.
- In lieu of degree: 11 years of recent and related Safety, Health and Environmental (E, S&H) experience will be considered.
- Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or an equivalent qualification.
- This position is located onsite at Glenn Research Facility.
- This position may require some travel.

- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
