This position is eligible for a High Demand Stipend. All Adjunct and Moonlighting Cybersecurity Technology Faculty will receive an additional $6.00 per contact hour. This agreement is in effect through June 30, 2025.BATES TECHNICAL COLLEGE maintains a vacancy pool of qualified faculty interested in temporary teaching positions as adjunct (part-time) instructors. Adjunct faculty are responsible for preparing and providing instruction for students in the classroom.This part-time position may become available at any time and is typically filled on a quarterly basis. Classroom instruction may be scheduled at Bates Central Campus as well as online.The
Cybersecurity Technology Instructor is responsible for providing instruction to students in a manner that prepares successful program graduates for entry-level employment in cybersecurity technology and related positions in business and industry or transfer towards a bachelor degree in security. Cybersecurity Technology Instructors
report to the Central Campus Dean of Instruction. Essential Functions- Prepare and teach courses in cybersecurity and related subjects in the form of lecture and laboratory activities in areas relating to the degree and certificate programs within the department.
- Develop, deliver and maintain appropriate curriculum ensuring that the programs of study are consistent with current industry standards across the range of the information technology programs, working with peer faculty.
- Acquire and maintain industry-based program accreditation, and/or ensure students are prepared for and have the opportunity to obtain relevant industry credentials and certifications.
- Actively contribute to and participate in departmental initiatives and college-wide governance activities.
- Use effective teaching techniques, instructional materials, and appropriate media support to conduct classroom lecture, lab-based instruction or online/web enhanced instruction and supervise work-based learning opportunities.
- Respond appropriately to student concerns and provide assistance or referrals in accordance with college procedures and resources.
- Ensure that appropriate safety practices are used at all times, students are knowledgeable of safety techniques, and all equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe working condition.
- Maintain records of all “shop job” instructional projects.
- Assist in the identification, development and maintenance of an advisory committee appropriate to the specific area of instruction.
- Undertake continuous professional development, licensure or other activities to maintain educational certification and meet industry standards and requirements for the program.
- Support College student achievement practices to ensure student retention, completion, and progression.
- Participate actively and collaboratively with College Student Services and program advisory committees to support access to employment opportunities for students, and maintain student job placement records.
- Deliver classroom management to maintain suitable learning environment by responding appropriately to student conduct/problems and provide assistance in solving them in accordance with college procedures.
- Provide budget management which includes requisition and maintenance control of and safeguard inventories of equipment and supplies assigned to the program.
- Participate actively and collaboratively in student recruitment.
Non-Essential/Other Function - Actively contribute to and participate in college-wide activities in support of regional accreditation and state and federal requirements. Support College student achievement practices to ensure student retention, completion,?and progression.
- Participate actively and collaboratively with College Student Services and program advisory committees to support access to employment opportunities for students, and maintain student job placement records.
- Accountable for keeping personal development up-to-date; adding to skills and knowledge through courses that may be available through the Bates Technical College courses, professional development committees, etc.
- Participate actively and collaboratively on committees for college as needed including but not limited to staff recruitment, college councils, etc.

- This position has been designated as a bargaining unit position represented by Bates Technical College local union.
- Following date of hire, all full-time faculty and all part-time faculty working two-thirds of a full-time load for more than three quarters (20 hours per week) must obtain Professional-Technical Education Certificate within 30 working days.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- Maintain first aid/CPR
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelors’ Degree in computer science or a closely related information systems or business degree with significant coursework in information systems application; and
- Five (5) years industry experience applying cybersecurity in business and industry including experience with PC maintenance and LAN’s; and
- One or more IT industry certifications such as COMPTIA A , Network , CCNA, etc.
Allowable SubstitutionIf necessary, alternative combinations of education and experience may be evaluated by the Human Resources Office for comparability.
Preferred Qualifications- Master’s Degree in computer science or a closely related information systems or business degree with significant coursework in information systems application.
- Experience establishing or delivering accredited Information technology/computer science curriculum.
- Experience teaching in higher education institution.
- Additional appropriate industry certifications reflecting expertise in networking, software applications, and computer repair and maintenance.
- Additional IT certifications.
