Financial Reporting Analyst
Job Overview:
The Financial Reporting Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for our organization. They analyze financial data, prepare reports, and communicate insights to ownership and management. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a high-level of integrity and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP).
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
- Internal Reporting:
- Generate internal management reports for decision-making and performance evaluation.
- Provide insights on financial performance, budget variances, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Data Analysis:
- Extract and manipulate data from financial systems and databases.
- Perform trend analysis, variance analysis, and ad hoc financial modeling.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements based on data findings.
- Technical Accounting:
- Research and interpret accounting standards and pronouncements.
- Assess the impact of new accounting rules on financial statements.
- Advise on complex accounting transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, leases).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other internal departments to gather relevant information.
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to financial reporting and analysis.
- Documentation and Controls:
- Maintain documentation of financial reporting processes and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements.
- Assist in the implementation of new reporting tools or systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a financial analyst
- Proficiency in financial reporting software (Power BI, Zoho, Geckoboard).
- Strong to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros, VBA).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
