Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a HALEU Senior Technical Advisor to work in our Fuel Cycle Science and Technology department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our EROB facility with every other Friday off. Remote or Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position. You will report to the manager over the Fuel Cycle Science and Technology manager.
This is a experienced position which requires knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle, with a specific focus on mining, conversion, enrichment, deconversion, and fuel fabrication to support HALEU availability for advanced reactors.
Responsibilities Include:You will contribute to a broad range of HALEU- and fuel cycle-related projects, including: DOE-NE's Advanced Nuclear Fuel Availability program and industry/vendor collaborations.
Work with INL management, DOE-ID, external partners, and other national laboratories to establish agreements, priorities, and problem resolutions to promote successful integration and completion of program goals.
Oversee and perform project management responsibilities such as: cost reporting; preparation of detailed, resource-loaded, project schedules; establish measures and tracking/reporting performance; provide technical direction, procuring equipment, solving emergent problems, and coordinating efforts among various work entities and government agencies to keep the projects on track.
Support studies to evaluate options and alternatives for making HALEU available to the advanced reactor companies.
Prepare various technical and programmatic reports and peer-reviewed journal articles.
Represent INL and DOE at domestic and international workshops, conferences, and meetings.
PR0400 - MS in Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field and 6 years relevant experience or PhD and 4 years relevant experience.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred
A clear understanding of the advanced reactor fuel cycle needs, and the Department of Energy's priorities on both LEU and HALEU production is strongly desired.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate large programs in the nuclear field.
Previous experience with nuclear fuel packaging and recycling.
