What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flat Laser Operator position at Bauer Welding & Metal Fabricators?
Purpose and Description:
This position is responsible for the daily setup and operation of a CNC laser cutting machine. This position is also responsible for maintenance, housekeeping, and material staging related to laser operation.
Major Responsibilities:
- Experience running Mazak or similar CNC lasers required.
- Follow quality procedures document as necessary
- Inspection of parts using a variety of measuring tools
- Reads job order to determine machine programming requirements.
- Sets up machine parameters and power settings.
Other Responsibilities:
- Ability to perform machine setup, including start up and shut down procedures, changing parts and fixtures, adjusting focus and beam alignment, and adjusting cutting parameters as needed
- Inspection documentation
- Process job packets accurately using a computer
- Maintain confidentiality of customer information in blue prints used or designed by Bauer
- Adhere to all safety policies
- Maintain commitment to safety, ethics and professionalism

Desired Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills /Abilities:
- Vocational training in metal fabrication or machining
- Blueprint reading and understanding

Physical Requirements and Environment:
- May require frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Some time working near moving mechanical parts
- Majority of time standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling
- Handling, speaking, hearing, seeing, color vision, depth perception
- Rotation of more physically demanding regular parts, which may include long term runs
- Indoor, seasonally air-conditioned and heated, machine shop environment
- Frequent noise
- Frequent exposure to chemicals, dirt, oils, solvents, paints, dust
- Eye, hand and hearing protection are required in the production area (employer provided)
- Must pass pre-placement background check and drug screen before starting employment
