Your role at Baxter
The Data Engineering Manager is responsible for building the future data infrastructure required for transforming Procurement at Baxter into a data driven function. This position will lead the development of a digital platform as a single source of truth for the Procurement function to deliver world class performance. Will partner closely with the Enterprise Data & Analytics team in adopting the best practices on data management with a focus on the highest level of data quality. This is an individual contributor that works cross functionally across a global team of data analysts, developers and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment.
What you'll be doing
- Design and implement a roadmap to build and optimize data products to deliver high-quality, trustworthy data
- Design data models that are expandable
- Build a data platform for data storage, management and processing at scale, including scheduling and libraries
- Drive continual improvements for reliability, performance, scalability and quality and own KPIs
- Deliver near-real-time and non-near-real-time data to a team of analysts and data scientists who build insights and analytics applications
- Responsible for collecting, ingesting, auditing, processing, and "QA'ing" the automation of all data pipelines
- Extract and QA data from multiple systems for analysis and reporting
- Own ETL and data automation; reinforce data contracts and templates
- Manage data feeds for dashboard and other analytics solutions refreshes
- Reinforce templated data collection, standard processes, and QA protocols
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree required in quantitative fields such as Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science or Economics
- 4 years progressive business experiences in sourcing analytics, data engineering and predictive modeling or strong academic background
- A minimum of 5 years experience with data engineering, data architecture, machine learning engineering, or software engineering
- At least 5 years of experience with designing, developing, operationalizing, and maintaining sophisticated data applications at enterprise scale
- Experience in a regulated and highly technical environment preferred, such as experience in the Automotive, Aerospace, OEM, and/or Medical Device industries.
- Experience with data warehousing using AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake
- Experience with Agile engineering practices
- Ability to manage diverse stakeholder interests and expectations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills. Along with the ability to manage diverse stakeholder interests and expectations.
- Experience with building scalable ETL/ELT workflows for reporting and analytics
- Experience with creating solutions within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
- Ability to develop scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats and support project team to scale, monitor and operate data platforms
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a salary range of $80,000 to $180,000 and also includes an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
