Job Posting for Sports Coach at Bay Area Community Resources
The Coaches will oversee a comprehensive intramural sports program at one of the CARES Expanded Learning elementary/middle school sites. The program must include the following components: Academics, Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Skill Building, and Physical Activity. Programs operate during after-school hours, five days a week until 6 pm. The two sports offered are Soccer in the fall (co-ed) and Basketball (separate boys and girls team). Each sport will consist of two teams which will be a 6th /7th-grade roster and 8 th grade roster.
Reports To: Expanded Learning Coordinator and School Site Program Coordinator
Pay: $17/hour, part-time
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to work effectively with diverse district/school staff, students, parents, and community members
Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
Experience working in youth programs (e.g., youth recreation sports programs)
Experience working in a school and/or non-profit setting
Able to implement and supervise a positive, safe, and learning environment incorporating academics, physical activities
Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance
Able to travel to required meetings; must have a clean driving record and insurance if using a personal vehicle
Preferred:
Bachelor's or 2 years college (minimal 48 college units) with 2 years related experience
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain communication and positive relationships with all stakeholders (e.g., student-athletes, their families and school community, school principal, district partners, and city partners)
Communicate with stakeholders regarding student progress and performance in the sports program
Oversee coordination of middle school program and ensure positive learning environment and program best practices
Work with the Expanded Learning Coordinator and the Program Coordinator in the development of the elementary/middle school sports schedule as well as selection of participants
Maintain all required documentation and positive behavior reinforcement required for student-athlete eligibility
Manage day-to-day operations of the elementary /middle school sports program to ensure compliance
Purchase, manage, and track inventory of supplies and equipment
Design and implement a meaningful program that meets the needs of program student-athletes
Effectively manage student recruitment, enrollment, sports schedule, and sports procedures to meet program goals
Participate in all meetings, workshops, and activities organized by BACR and MDUSD District Agencies
