**Evening and Weekend Shifts Required**
NATURE OF JOB:
Provides reference and instructional services in individual and group settings using print and non-print resources; assists patrons in locating and obtaining materials and information. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Furnishes information on library activities, facilities, rules, and services.
- Describes or demonstrates procedures for navigating the public access catalog, electronic resources, and the Internet. Explains and assists in use of reference resources, such as book and periodical indexes, to locate information.
- Conducts virtual reference services.
- Searches files, reference shelves, and computerized information systems to locate requested information. Answers queries on complicated reference subjects, including formulating and processing on-line search requests.
- May perform activities involved with interlibrary loan services, compilation of monthly and annual library statistics, and collection development in specific collection areas such as: non-fiction, reference, audio/visual, graphic novels, and serials including checking in serials and claiming missing issues.)
- Participates in library outreach programs and conducts library tours.
- Provides instruction and actively participates in the development and design of computer classes and classes on use of the library and its resources.
- Assembles and arranges displays of books and other library materials.
- Helps organize and maintain reference materials.
- Compiles bibliographies and develops library user guides, both printed and electronic.
- Assists in reference collection development, including planning and promoting electronic information resources and services.
- Promotes goodwill through publicity efforts such as speeches, tours and programs. Represents the library at community, social, and business gatherings.
- Maintains and increases skills while keeping abreast of current developments in the library field through continuing education, professional reading, workshops and conferences, and electronic resources, such as listservs.
- May participate in answering calls to the Citizens Information Center phone line when an emergency is declared in Bay County.
- Regular reliable full-time attendance as scheduled.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree (M.S.) in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school.
- Must maintain good interpersonal and communication skills to deal with public.
- Must be able to speak, write, and comprehend English language.
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver license upon offer of employment with a driving record acceptable to the County Driving Policy and insurance program.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to type; experience with word processing; proficient in use of graphical operating systems; experience with computer systems maintenance, including troubleshooting hardware and software problems, installation of peripherals, upgrade and repair of hardware, and installation of software applications; proficient in searching Internet, Web, and electronic databases.
Work is primarily performed in an indoor, climate-controlled environment and has moderate exposure to disagreeable elements (e.g., irate customer, extreme noise, heat, odors, heights and/or dust).
This position requires stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, visual acuity (i.e. seeing up close, seeing far away, depth perception), kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, climbing, finger movement, repetitive motions. Frequent lifting 10 to 25 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Employee must be able to push or pull a loaded two-sided, six shelf book cart. Employee must occasionally retrieve library materials by climbing and/or reaching to top shelves of standard 84” library shelving and stooping to floor-level shelves of library shelving and bottom drawers of file cabinets.
Salary : $41,018 - $71,635
