POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Cage Operations, the Asst. Director of Cage Operations assists the Director in all facets of Cage Operations, including but not limited to: hiring, training and supervising all cage personnel, planning, coordinating cage operations, staffing, and budgeting, as well as ensuring all cash handling and regulatory requirements are adhered to.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Assists in the review and implementation of those procedures and policies that are necessary to ensure that the cash handling is performed within accepted standards established by management, accounting, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures that all cage activity is in balance and maintained in an orderly manner.
- Ensures that all cage personnel are properly trained.
- Assists the Director with the planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, staffing, reporting, and budgeting for the Cage Department.
- Ensures that management receives the necessary timely and accurate financial results from operations on a daily basis.
- Ensures that all employees are given a clear understanding of their job functions and then evaluated on their performance.
- Ensures all new employees received adequate training and orientation.
- Responsible for the safety of all departmental employees.
- Maintains confidential employee discipline files and cage personnel records as required.
- Initiates work scheduling while monitoring and reviewing labor requirements and productivity of the Cage Department
- Monitors the service ability of the Cage Department equipment, supplies, and systems.
- Interacts on a daily base with employees and employees of other departments in a helpful, courteous, and constructive manner.
- Handles customer complaints and incidents in a helpful, courteous, and constructive manner, and if necessary, reviews available documentation and/or creates documentation concerning the incident.
- Represents the department as the Director during all Director absences, vacations, etc.
- Ensures that all required paperwork and/or systems are completed and submitted to Human Resources/Accounting in a timely manner; timesheets, leave requests, late/absent reports, performance evaluations, employee status change reports, corrective actions, labor requests, accident/injury reports, etc.
- As a supervisor/manager, you must familiarize yourself with the Bay Mills Personnel Policies and Procedures handbook so you can fairly and consistently apply those to all departmental employees.
- Interviews and evaluates employment applicants screened by the Human Resources Recruiter and recommends for hire the best available applicant for the needs of the business.
- Creates a friendly work atmosphere and communicates an OPEN DOOR policy to all employees to resolve employee disputes in a timely manner.
- Constantly reviews staffing needs and recommends increase/decrease in staffing levels to coincide with business demands.
- Must attend all mandatory trainings designated by the Human Resources Department and/or Department Directing, including TIPS and Title 31.
- Performs and ensures compliance with the Bay Mills Gaming Commission Rules and Regulations.
- Other duties may be assigned within the scope and complexity of this positions essential functions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk with occasional sitting and standing. Occasionally the employee must bend, squat, crawl, climb, crouch, kneel, balance, and pushing/pulling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to moving machinery, dust, fumes, and gases.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a Bachelors degree in accounting or business and/or 15 years progressive experience in a casino Cage department.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years experience with cash handling, including working with and servicing of ATM and Kiosk machines.
- Must have three to five years experience in operating and implementing cage procedures.
- Demonstrated ability in working with departmental policies, planning, and budgeting.
- Demonstrated ability in counseling and developing subordinates.
- Must be able to obtain a gaming license through the Bay Mills Gaming Commission and maintain eligibility throughout employment.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- General computer experience a must.
