What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grant Accountant (Hybrid) position at BAYADA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Grant Accountant will support ongoing tax compliance activities and provide financial and compliance oversight to donations and grants received by BAYADA Home Health Care. The position will support pre and post grant activities, which include research, application, accounting, and analysis. The person will develop in-depth knowledge of various federal, state, local, and private programs and provide support to the various businesses within BAYADA. The position is responsible for analyzing receipts and expenditures of various grant programs, and supporting any accompanying audit, compliance and/or reporting requirements. The person will also support activities relating to nonprofit tax filings and compliance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate and communicate the core values of BAYADA and The BAYADA Way.
- Develop working knowledge of BAYADA’s mission, services, people, organization, policies, and procedures.
- Remain current on new guidance related to government grant reporting requirements and compliance standards.
- Support discovery of new grant opportunities administered by Federal, State, Local, and Private Payors, including the research of reporting/compliance requirements.
- Assist in grant application process, providing data and conducting analysis as requested.
- Prepare documentation to acknowledge donations made to BAYADA and related entities.
- Manage expected cash inflows from all grantors, following up as necessary to ensure timely receipt.
- Maintain accounting records by creating journal entries to record, among other things, grant revenue, restricted/unrestricted donations, the receipt of funds, grant expenditures, and various tax accruals.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure full utilization of funding within established grant parameters.
- Work with individual practices to assess the impact of applied grant funding relative to the expected outcome.
- Support external reporting requirements as of various programs ensuring compliance with various deadlines.
- Support audit efforts of various grants under Single Audit requirements and other audits by third parties.
- Assist in preparation of nonprofit and tax annual filings with the IRS and State Revenue Agencies.
- Prepare tax returns including but not limited to sales and use, personal property, and gross receipts.
- Monitor not-for-profit exemptions to ensure appropriate application at federal/state/local levels, taking corrective action where necessary. Apply for and renew additional exemptions as the need arises.
- Present oneself professionally and interact/build relationships with others in the organization.
- Demonstrate solid performance or exceed performance standards in key job dimensions/attributes as defined on the Performance Appraisal for Office Staff.
- Perform related duties, or as required or requested by supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Four (4) year college degree in Accounting or Finance.
- One (1) to three (3) years of public accounting or related industry experience.
- Not-for-profit experience is preferred.
- Prior tax experience, specifically with sales and use, personal property, or gross receipts is preferred.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) applications and ability to learn various software applications (i.e. Workday).
- Strong understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and processes.
- Acceptable Pre-Employment Assessment Results.
- Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
