Head of Varietal Breeding
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Head of Varietal Breeding, are to:
- Develop and implement people, product and site strategies to ensure goals and resource needs are met and align with the needs of North America Breeding and the business;
- Lead and contribute to North America Varietal Breeding strategies and Long Range Planning (LRP), ensuring that these goals and deliverables align with high level functional goals and corporate objectives to
support commercial LRP by various world regions and business functions;
- Lead multi-functional breeding teams across North America, with a key focus on driving genetic gain and product performance through digital transformation and new technology deployment in the region;
- Ensure leadership and employee development, including growth opportunities for key leaders, strong succession, and change management efforts to prepare for future transformation within the function and workforce;
- Fiscally responsible for capital and budgetary oversight and for care and maintenance of company assets;
- Develop a broad knowledge of breeding focus areas, processes and opportunities for improvement and value growth;
- Develop employees and people leaders to enable a continued focused on cultural transformation, talent development, news skills, and succession strength of an evolving workforce;
- Drive Health Safety and Environment (HS&E), Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights focus and culture in region.
WHO YOU ARE
Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values, more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required qualifications:
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree with eight plus years of row crop technology leadership, or Master of Science degree with 10 years of row crop technology leadership experience or 10 or more years of relevant experience including technology and/or business strategy development across a diversified agricultural product portfolio and implementation, and driving innovation adoption;
- Strong knowledge of advanced breeding technologies, advanced analytics and information technologies with a track record of driving innovation;
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in developing talent and leading direct and cross-functional teams.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's in Business Administration
