Principal Scientist
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct or direct research to identify and evaluate innovative solutions to enhance the plant transformation pipeline and support advancement of current and future Plant Biotechnology products.
The primary responsibilities of this role, Principal Scientist, are to:
- Responsible for working independently to identify research opportunities in plant transformation;
- Develop and implement research and technology-driven proposals through designing, conducting & interpreting complex experiments;
- Be accountable for collaborating across multiple teams to identify and evaluate creative solutions to improve current plant transformation pipeline;
- Contribute to research projects, technologies, publications, intellectual property, or trade secrets;
- Align research activities with Plant Biotechnology goals to meet broad business objectives;
- Stay up to date with new advances and scientific developments (both internal and external to the company) in plant transformation, plant biotechnology, genome editing delivery technologies and adjacent areas to identify opportunities for technical innovation;
- Utilize scientific principles, state of the art know-how, original thinking and deductive reasoning to solve complex scientific problems;
- Communicate study findings internally and externally through presentations at conferences and publications;
- Effectively communicate experimental results, production KPIs, cost/benefit analysis, and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
- Potentially assume project leadership and/or supervisory functions;
- Mentor peers/colleagues in areas of expertise.

Required Qualifications:
- B.S. degree;
- Strong biology acumen with the ability to independently design and execute experiments, analyze data, and communicate results clearly with stakeholders in written and verbal form;
- Passion and creativity for solving problems;
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and agility to shift efforts with changing priorities;
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results on established timeline;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to build strong relationships and networks across functions and teams;
- Ability to expand knowledge base through continuous learning;
- Expertise in cell biology, plant physiology and molecular biology;
- Hands on experience in developing or optimizing tissue culture and transformation systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. with six years of relevant experience;
- M.S. with ten years of relevant experience;
- B.S. with twelve years of relevant experience;
- At least four years of experience in Plant Biotechnology or related field designing, conducting, analyzing experiments that lead to developing products;
- Proficiency with statistical data analysis and visualization software;
- High throughput laboratory automation experience.
