Protein Analytics Lead
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Protein Analytics Lead, are to:
Supervises and provides team leadership;
Effectively communicates and establishes team goals & objectives to all relevant stakeholders;
Be the center of excellence protein expression evaluation across Plant Biotech portfolio projects and with partners across Bayer Crop Science;
Lead protein characterization efforts for proteins of interest to support both discovery and regulatory activities;
Support development of novel insect control traits through mechanism of action characterization;
Drive mass spectrometry-based applications to characterize protein composition, fold, and fate of lead proteins in our discovery pipeline;
Identify "leading edge" technology that can enhance current efforts or enable new ones;
Contributes to departmental problem solving.
WHO YOU ARE
Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. with 6 years of experience OR Master’s degree with 10 years of experience;
Technical experience in protein sciences spanning one or more of the following areas: analytical characterization (ELISA, Western, Mass Spec), protein function, protein expression and purification, or protein structure;
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, and outstanding analytical thinking.
Preferred qualifications:
At least 2 years of people management experience including a demonstrated willingness to effectively coach and mentor people;
Experience in the discovery and development of biotechnology or small molecule crop protection products;
Proven ability to lead and influence across a matrixed environment;
Experience with laboratory automation and process improvement.
