Senior Scientist
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Scientist, are to:
- Conduct and/or direct insect bioassays and contributes to insect control projects, emerging technologies, publications, intellectual property, or trade secrets;
- Design, conducts and interprets multiple complex studies;
- Develop and implements research and/or technology driven proposals;
- Effectively communicate research findings and be a primary author for scientific reports/publications;
- Lead scientific and technical projects and may assume leadership and/or supervisory functions;
- Independently identify research opportunities in insect bioassay testing and implement new technologies to improve research outcomes and processes including developing new equipment, automation, and imaging tools;
- Direct work and collaborate across internal and external stakeholders. Mentor peers/colleagues in insect bioassays testing strategies;
- Demonstrate creativity in problem solving and apply state of the art know how to solve complex problems;
- Design strategies to optimize product development and technical innovation within budget and resource targets;
- Possess specialized knowledge in relevant technology area;
- Align core competencies with business objectives;
- Partners with IT and Data Science & Analytics colleagues to enable efficient coordination of specific digital projects ensuring that high-quality data are delivered to business partners through proper data systems.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in science;
- Extensive experience working with Hemipteran insect pests;
- Strong background in either insect feeding behavior, insect physiology, plant insect interactions, and/or insect resistance management;
- Ability to conceptualize, design, and execute experiments that address insect specific research questions in transgenic cropping systems;
- Experience in development of publications, intellectual property and/or trade secrets;
- Strong agility and adaptability to keep up with changing business priorities and ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously;
- Proficiency with experiment design, data analysis, and data visualization;
- Track record of supporting cultural and technical diversity individually and on project teams to maintain an inclusive culture while effectively engaging both broad thinking and problem solving.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in science with at least 10 years of relevant experience; OR
- Master's degree with at least eight years of relevant experience; OR
- Ph.D. with at least four years of relevant experience;
- Experience in plant care and in conducting controlled environment insect bioassays;
- Experience with driving efficiency and implementing process improvements such as automation and imaging tools for insect bioassays;
- Proficiency with visualization software.
