Baylor Genetics, one of the world leaders in clinical molecular genetics, is excited to announce an opening in the Clinical Genomics Interpretation (CGI) division. The Supervisor of Molecular Genetics Analysis will oversee a group of clinical genomics scientists. Administrative duties include preparing task coverage schedules, forecasting FTE needs, ensuring timely reporting of results, hiring, training, compliance, and maintaining standard operating procedures. Analytical duties include clinical genomics data analysis, variant and gene curation, clinical report drafting, and test validation.
The Supervisor of Molecular Genetics Analysis position is a remote work opportunity, with daily huddles, clear objectives, and flexible scheduling. Minimal on-site time at the headquarters in Houston, TX may be required. Come join our team from the comfort of your home office!
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 50% Administrative: prepare schedules, coverage, FTE forecast, ensure test turnaround time, hiring, training, orientation, performance evaluation, competency, compliance, SOPs, department metrics
- 50% Analytical: data processing, quality control monitoring, analyzing clinical genomics data to determine variant identity, ordering and tracking confirmation testing, case status tracking with the ability to meet deadlines
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics’ Compliance Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Supervisor, Molecular Genetics Analysis
- Degree: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Genetics or related field
- Certification (optional): MB(ASCP)
- Prior working experience in CLIA lab and NGS data analysis is preferred
- Relevant supervisory experience: 1 years
- Relevant experience in clinical genomics or a related field: 2 years
- Experience with data quality assessment
- Familiarity with HGVS standards of variant nomenclature (http://varnomen.hgvs.org)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- An understanding of bioinformatics analysis to identify variants within genomic data sets, and variant effect prediction algorithms (desired)
