Baylor University Libraries are accepting applications from individuals with electronic resource management expertise and traditional serials experience to join the Collection Development and Delivery Services (CDDS) unit within the Library Collections, Systems, and Digital Services department. The Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian position reports directly to the Director of CDDS and supervises the newly formed Continuing Resource Management team.
The Continuing Resource Management team is responsible for managing the lifecycle of the libraries’ electronic resources and serials collections, including acquiring and renewing subscriptions, providing on-going access support, and tracking usage. This position will work collaboratively with both the Library’s Collection Development Committee on selection/deselection decisions and with Cataloging and Metadata Services to provide access.
As a supervisor, this position works with staff to investigate, develop, implement, and manage effective workflows for electronic and continuing resources within Ex Libris’ Alma/Primo environment. The position will be responsible for maintaining the A-Z Database list hosted on the Springshare platform and managing remote access to resources through OCLC’s EZProxy. The successful candidate will exhibit a thorough understanding of electronic resource and serials management along with a collaborative spirit and a desire to serve the research needs of the Baylor Community.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and participate in the life cycle management of electronic resources – responsibilities include creating and maintaining the workflows necessary to set up trials, place orders, pay invoices, confirm renewals, establish and monitor online access, perform troubleshooting, and communicate cancelations, which includes working with data in knowledgebases and analytic services.
- Oversee and participate in the life cycle management of print serials and standing orders – responsibilities include creating and maintaining the workflows necessary to place orders, pay invoices, confirm renewals, receive issues, claim missing issues, and communicate cancelations.
- Train, supervise, and support the Continuing Resource Management staff.
- Provide leadership and development support for other departmental staff with interconnected responsibilities.
- Interact directly with library vendors to gather information, place orders and renewals, make payments, and resolve access issues.
- Serve as a member of the Collection Development Committee to assist with decision-making related to new and existing resources, duties will also include special projects associated with the content and housing of the libraries’ collections.
- Oversee the collection and monitor of usage statistics and the associated automated processes.
- Coordinate with Cataloging and Metadata Services to create and maintain useful access points across library systems.
- Communicate with individuals across the library to enhance understanding of technical services processes.
- Meet university expectations for scholarship and service, including active participation in local, regional, national, and international organizations.
Qualifications
Required Job Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library program or a recognized equivalent program (well-qualified candidates scheduled to receive the required degree within 6 months of hiring date will also be considered).
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant technical service experience.
- Knowledge of the processes involved in acquiring and maintaining library electronic resources and print continuations.
- Experience with library systems and automation tools.
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact successfully with diverse personalities and perspectives.
- Eagerness to learn emerging and evolving technologies on a continual basis.
- Strong organizational skills demonstrated by the ability to direct multiple tasks and projects .
- Strong commitment to serving constituents and the larger community.
Desired Job Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience, preferably in a library environment.
- Experience managing continuing resources in the Ex Libris’ Alma and Primo platforms.
- Experience working in the Springshare platform.
- Experience managing remote access authentication, in particularly using OCLC’s EZProxy.
- Intermediate experience using spreadsheets such as MS Excel.
- Experience working with publishers and vendors of print and electronic resources.
