Overview:Baystate Dental is growing and looking to add a full-time licensed dental assistant to our office located in Springfield, Massachusetts, 01103. The ideal candidate we hire must have an x-ray license for the state of MA and preferred to have recent dental assisting experience. We offer a competitive salary, plus benefits!
Responsibilities:
- Prepare treatment rooms for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
- Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
- Provide helpful information to patients and employees by promptly answering their questions and fulfilling their requests.
- Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
- Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
- Assist in obtaining diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies, as well as pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
- Ensure patients' appearance and ability to chew by fabricating temporary restorations and cleaning/polishing removable appliances.
- Assist the dentist in managing dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and an updated emergency telephone directory.
- Educates patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.
- Accurately document dental care services by charting in patient records, ensuring comprehensive and organized documentation.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications:Required Skills:
- Must possess a valid x-ray license for the state of Massachusetts.
- Previous experience working as a Dental Assistant or completion of a formal Dental Assistant program.
