We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Genetic Counselor to join our dynamic team at Baywater. In this remote role, you will provide invaluable genetic counseling services, guiding patients through complex genetic information, helping them understand their risks, and supporting them in making informed medical and lifestyle decisions. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to deliver comprehensive care.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough genetic risk assessments and collect detailed family health histories.
- Interpret genetic testing results and communicate findings to patients and their families in an understandable manner.
- Provide support and counseling to patients and their families, helping them navigate the emotional, psychological, and medical implications of genetic information.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to integrate genetic findings into patient care plans.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in genetics and incorporate new knowledge into patient counseling and care strategies.
- Participate in research activities, contribute to genetic education, and advocate for patient needs in the field of genetics.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program.
- Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or eligibility to obtain certification.
- State licensure to practice as a Genetic Counselor (if applicable).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to convey complex genetic information in a clear and compassionate manner.
- Demonstrated experience in genetic counseling, with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Proficiency in interpreting clinical and molecular genetic data.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards in genetic counseling.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus, to serve a diverse patient population.
