Purpose of the role
This is an exciting new role created for a growing Creative and Brand team (Americas Marketing). As the Designer, you will help define, concept and develop our visual standards for the BBC brand and marketing collateral.
Main ResponsibilitiesPrincipal Accountabilities
- Help develop visual guidelines for a new and existing BBC product offerings
- Direct and assist in the creation of front-facing marketing collateral including, but not limited to: brand and content marketing campaigns, key art, title treatments, logos, iconography, advertising, email, and web collateral, infographics, motion graphics, newsletters, social media needs and more
- Build, maintain, and continually develop visual communication according to brand guidelines
- Quickly turn around a high-volume of creative and develop multimedia assets including GIFs, illustrations, icons, and animations, if needed
- Create moodboards and visual directions for logos, key art, campaigns, events and more
Scope & Impact
- Develop multiple ideas and use creative storytelling techniques to inspire our audiences
- Take full ownership of your work, and you take responsibility for every last detail, every step of the way
- Collaborate with cross functional teams including marketing, trade marketing, content production, sales, social, product, copy, video production, operations, CRM, strategy, legal and more
- Quickly version and reproduce key visuals across many different sizes and formats at a high volume
- Develop visually compelling presentations for both internal and external priorities
Relationships
- Work directly with Creative Directors, Art Directors, motion graphics, editors, and copywriters on different creative, brand and marketing initiatives
- Work across small to large scale projects from ideation to execution
- Assist with the production of assets with external vendors, agencies and freelancers.

Knowledge & Skills
- Has a deep understanding and passionate about visual hierarchy, branding, color systems, typography, layouts, photography and how these elements come together to create impactful designs, whether in a URL or IRL space.
- Someone with the ability to interpret our brand guidelines/standards and apply them to all creative assets
- A passion for news and culture and like pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in design and beyond
- Creative problem solver who doesn't take themselves too seriously
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with shifting priorities
- Love BBC Content
Professional Experience
- 5 years experience working in-house at a media company or an agency setting (news and/or tech experience a plus)
- Customer-focused design mentality. Constantly looking to hone your design instinct through consumer feedback, whether through hands-on consumer research or by designing options for an A/B test
- Experience in:
- Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
- Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint
- Motion software such as After Effects a plus
