The Production Manager's essential responsibility is ensuring on-time, profitable, and high-quality production beginning with pre-production and carrying through to finishing. The responsibilities are fulfilled through data-driven decision-making, team leadership, and evaluation/refinement of the process
Job Description & Duties:
General
· Manage flow of production to control manufacturing output
· Adherence to the calendar by all parties to assure on time delivery, ensuring lead times and work are aligned with sewing leads and warehouse manager
· Create cost sheets and production timelines for each product style
· Oversee the resolution of quality issues. Determine whether a style must be pulled from production and fixed or remade.
· Supervise team members involved in the remediation process.
· Study production processes and SOPs to find areas that can become more efficient. Implement changes to the production process and ensure that the changes are followed through. Revise existing SOPs or develop new ones.
· Study SOPs, production sequences, and tech pack instructions. Ensure production departments adhere to all requirements. Communicate changes and updates to the product developer.
· Participate in the development of production sequences.
· Participate in the development of shrink remediation strategies.
· Ensure adequate documentation is present in tech packs.
· Ensure raw materials have been adequately prepared.
· Convene and run weekly production meetings.
· Monitor WIP, set output targets by department, and report on actual output versus targeted output.
· Develop action plans to remedy low output, such as hiring additional labor, transferring workers to different departments, running overtime, implementing new technology/equipment to gain efficiency, etc.
· Validate costing estimates by collecting and analyzing actual production minutes
Continuous Improvement
· Ensure high quality standards
· Study product competition and look for flaws in the company’s product design, keeping up to date with the latest trends and product usage requirements
· Ensure all outgoing products pass the company’s quality standards
· Standardize and train teams to reduce waste within the manufacturing and warehousing process
Qualifications/Requirements
· Ability to speak both English/Spanish Fluently – Preferred
· 5 years plus of Production Management experience
· Must have 5 years plus of Apparel/Garment manufacturing experience
· Ability to manage, train, mentor, inspire and develop employees
