Summary

With the support of the Senior Management team and area management, plans, directs, and implements organization safety program to ensure safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety

  • Provides strategic environmental and workplace safety direction to Plant Leadership Team.
  • Develop and maintain EHS polices and training, with input from plant process owners.  These trainings will be delivered to plant workforce to ensure compliance by all employees around safety training topics that include the following (but not limited to):
    • Lock/Tag/Try
    • Hazardous Communications / Right to Know / MSDS-SDS
    • Electrical Safety
    • NFPA 70E
    • PPE Policy
    • Forklift (Mobile Equipment) Safety and Operator Training
    • Fire Extinguisher
    • Seasonal Weather Awareness
    • Contractor Safety
    • E-Vac Plans
    • Safe Loading and Unloading
    • Ad hoc “Toolbox Talks”
    • Blood Borne Pathogens
    • Machine Guarding
    • Fall Prevention/Protection
    • Lifting protocol
  • Provide safety input to standard operating procedures
  • Provides EHS resource guidance to plant operators, supervisors, and other members of management and becomes an active business partner for the plant. 
  • Develops & implements safety & environmental management systems.
  • Monitors regulatory changes & responds to regulatory agency inquiries.
  • Commits to and follows the facility Mission, Vision, and Values that support the company Operating Principles.
  • Holds Quarterly safety Meetings with  BCI Safety Committee

EH&S Compliance – In conjunction with the Management Team and Local/County governing representatives, ensures compliance in the following areas:

  • Air
    • Inspections
    • Title V compliance
    • Reporting
    • Permitting
  • Waste
    • Residual waste inspections, compliance & reporting
    • Hazardous waste compliance & reporting
  • Health
    • Noise monitoring
    • Dust monitoring
    • Chemical exposure monitoring
  • Safety
    • Risk assessment & reduction
    • Incident investigation
    • Employee coaching
    • Area/Line audits
    • Leadership
    • Training
    • Rewards and recognition
    • Performs & trains leadership team on safety audits

​​​​​​​Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in manufacturing
  • Bi-Lingual English Spanish preferred
  • OSHA 30 cert
  • EPA experience
  • Valid competency certificates.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Applications.
