SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Security Manager: The Access Control Coordinator I maintains safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitors surveillance equipment
- Inspects buildings, equipment, and monitors access points
- Reports and assists with escalation duties related to major problems impacting business, or site outages.
- Ensures all established policies and procedures are maintained and followed
- Makes decisions with an understanding of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve desired results.
- Responsible for monitoring of the property and access control.
- May be required to control traffic by directing drivers and enforces parking regulations.
- Reports atypical situations to management.
- Escalates all emergency, fire and safety hazards.
- Promotes positive public relations by offering courteous service to customers, visitors, and guests and responding to their requests.
- Monitors and controls the building's life safety system and central access control systems.
- Provides escort for guests, visitors, and contractors as required.
- Provides insight to improve all department procedures to increase efficiencies and service levels.
- Assesses monitoring faults and prioritizes and escalates accordingly.
- Informs violators of policy and procedures
- Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses, obtaining signatures.
- Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements
- Ensures work, assignments and projects successfully meets assigned deadlines.
- May act as the Shipping and Receiving Technician for all freight deliveries and shipments, when necessary.
- Logs freight into and out of the track system and takes customer deliveries to secure storage for pickup

Essential duties are done both inside and outside, in climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled conditions. Exposure to wet (and humidity), extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, mechanical hazards, radiant energy hazards, electrical hazards, explosive hazards, and burn hazards. Climbing ladders and scaffolding as required to complete work.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to frequently stand (8 or more hours); walk; use hands, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods. Requires bending, stooping, reaching upward, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Work is in a data center setting and will require effort associated with using a computer.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
- Must be able to work varying shifts in a 24 x 7 x 365 environment.
TRAVEL
- Limited travel may be required in this position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School / GED
- At least 3 years prior experience in customer service, with a solid, stable work history is required.
- Demonstrated experience working well under pressure with a proactive approach to unusual occurrences.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Three or more years as a access control specialist, security officer, prior military or law enforcement officer preferred
- Data center operations or telecommunications experience, a technical understanding of the components of the data center or network operations and a demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate technical data, methods and procedures.
- Proficient with Windows-based computer applications

State-specific guard license/certificate, if required.
