The Inventory Accounting Analyst provides accounting support for inventory management as well as assists in month-end closing. Emphasis placed on supporting Cost Accounting functions of inventory management and research.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include some or all of the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides accounting support for inventory management.
Investigate receipt route exceptions for in-transit and rejected in-transit inventory.
Work cross functionally with other departments to resolve inventory discrepancies.
Process Material Disposition Notices (MDN) received monthly from the Global Distribution Center (GDC) as well as any other MDN that becomes necessary.
Discuss with manager possible improvement, standardization opportunities and execute the agreed upon process changes within your own area, to support a continuous increase in the efficiency of inventory processes.
Assist with physical inventory for Covington Operations.
Provide support for item master creation and cost requests.
Performs Month End duties necessary for closing the books
Run Ledger detail and analyze for assigned accounts.
Run various inventory reports.
Provides support for the general accounting process
Administration of and compliance to corporate and divisional policies and procedures
Ensure internal & SOX controls are followed in order to guarantee completeness, correctness and security of key financial data and accounting transactions
Performs ad hoc assignments as needed
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Postsecondary education or a minimum of two years of experience in an accounting, distribution, and/or inventory-oriented environment.
Proficient in the use of a personal computer with intermediate level of keyboarding skills, MS Excel and MS Word
Strong Microsoft Excel with the ability to create tables and manipulate data
Attention to detail, strong analytical skills and accuracy required
Successful history of prioritizing multiple tasks, including process oriented, focused urgency and ensuring for results
Able to work independently, with minimal supervision and instruction, on routine assignments
Strong interpersonal skills required in the areas of verbal and written communications, customer focused, telephone courtesy, and professionalism.
Demonstrated ability to effectively partner within the team, all levels of management and clients
Basic understanding of Sarbanes Oxley 404 impact to financial transactions, processes and reporting
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
JD Edwards (JDE) experience is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position works in a normal office environment.
The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
BD Covington role - must be able to work onsite for training requirements (hybrid role home:office once trained)
