Manager, KOL Engagement and Evidence Generation- MDS Medical Affairs
This position is part of Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS), BD’s largest Business Unit. MDS is comprised of the world leading products needed to safely prepare and administer medication, from intravenous catheters to infection prevention products to hypodermic syringes including those that support the global COVID-19 vaccination efforts. MDS is focused on reducing complications, improving patient safety/outcomes, and lowering total cost of care around the world.
Scope and Purpose of the Position:
The Manager, KOL (Key Opinion Leader) Engagement and Evidence Generation, will work alongside the Global Director of MDS Strategy as well as the platform and regional teams to manage the organization of global though leader and clinical insight generating activities across the MDS business. They will work with both global and regional Medical Affairs to identify, develop and lead KOL relationships and activities that support the strategic imperatives of both global and regional businesses.
The Manager, KOL Engagement and Evidence Generation, is also responsible for the oversight of the Evidence Generation and Dissemination program. This program is designed to work with the MDS Marketing and Medical Affairs teams to understand gaps and needs related to evidence generation and to assist the MDS Marketing and Medical Affairs teams in the development and execution of plans to deliver on evidence needed to generate clinically impactful insights and claims at product launch and over the product life cycle.
The Manager, KOL Engagement and Evidence Generation must fully understand the MDS business strategy, specifically as it relates to both KOL strategy development and execution and evidence generation and dissemination. They must also be able to bridge clinical and strategic insights and drive collaboration between BD functional partners as well as external collaborators.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Participates in the development and execution of strategic plans to support evidence needs and KOL activities across MDS
Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with internal and external authorities to ensure appropriate clinical and business return on investment of KOL/Evidence/Insight generation strategies
Coordinates KOL activities aligned with the global and regional business strategies and helps to identify, develop, and establish relationships with new global KOLs
Participates and supports internal KOL engagement planning workshops and external advisory board activities across MDS
Supports the execution of contracts with KOLs across businesses and regions as needed
Responsible for the management and upkeep of an internal KOL/Evidence digital enablement tool to support effective KOL engagement planning and implementation across MDS
Partners with Marketing, HEOR, Market Access and other functions to identify new evidence generation opportunities to improve product lifecycle management
Provides clinical knowledge and product insights to ensure development of robust evidence plans
Manages MDS Evidence Council activities and prepares project teams for evidence concept reviews:
Develops meeting agendas / content / slides / collect pre-reads and distributes / disseminates meeting minutes
Tracks all ongoing, approved, and published evidence via a digital enablement tool
Tracks metrics/develops reports demonstrating how the evidence generation pipeline is progressing, showing progression quarterly
Supports the execution of approved studies and ongoing studies according to budget and timeline expectations
Ensures transparency and uniformity across regions to avoid study duplication
Works across functions to disseminate clinical evidence via digital communications, publications, scientific congresses, and networking with KOLs
Position Requirements:
RN, PharmD, or MD/DO required
At least 5 years’ experience in clinical practice
At least 2 years related experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry within clinical research or medical affairs is preferred.
Clinical research study management experience with solid knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) preferred
Prior experience with KOL development and management preferred.

Strong scientific competence, and ability to analyze clinical and scientific studies
Capability for high level scientific, creative, and critical thinking
Ability to work within a highly matrixed environment
Interest in project management
Excellent social skills
Proficiency in MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel
Operates with agility and flexibility
Ability to prioritize and work towards results.
