Using the latest technology we are able to offer our patients state of the art lenses and treatments.

Lab candidates would be responsible for ordering lenses, edging lenses into frames, finishing handwork required for final job inspection, finding order statuses and updating Opticians at our satellite offices, and other duties.


The Lab Technician position has very flexible hours once the candidate has been trained. Hours are 8am-5pm. Optical Lab experience is preferred but we will train if there is no experience. Compensation is a competitive hourly rate based on technical and customer service experience. Starting rate is between $17.00 and $19.00 an hour and determined by experience in the Optical Industry. We have an earn as you learn program where you receive $1/hr increase after learning each production level. Techs start at a Production Tech I, and then progress to Production Tech II for lensometry certification. Opticians and Licensed Opticians are welcome to apply and we pay competitive market wages for all positions. 


Job Description:

  

- Uphold Beach Eye Care’s standards of customer service at all times. 

- Have a sense of urgency to complete daily shipments of uncut lenses from the outside labs.

- Help drive customer service by completing eyewear ahead of schedule.

- Assist Optical Employees with any issues they are having with orders placed through the BEC Lab.

- Inspect incoming jobs to uphold our quality standards.

- Properly uses lab SOP when scanning eyewear out to customers.

- Present patients with completed eyewear with the standards set by Beach Eye Care.

- Accurately order jobs through the appropriate lab via the Optivision Software

- Be fluent with My Vision Express and the Optivision software packages.

- Return all lenses for credit within a timely fashion.

- Check phone and email messages to respond to satellite inquiries or any follow-up to orders.

- Must have good interoffice and interdepartmental communication skills.

- Must master all aspects of the lab.

- Edge patient orders according to Beach Eye Care’s SOP

- Position requires employee to be on their feet for a minimum of 8 hours a day.

- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance/cleaning on all lab equipment.

- Help to keep the lab clean and presentable which includes but is not limited to mopping floors, wiping counters, and cleaning edger waste containers.

- Handle frame inventory in regards to entering frame inventory for each location into the POS and returning frames to vendors.

Requirements

  

- Education/Requirements:


- 2 years of proven customer support experience 

- Track record of over-achieving quota

- Strong phone contact handling skills and active listening

- Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters and new policy implementation

- Excellent communication and presentation skills

- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively

- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred

- Should be able and willing to give and receive constructive feedback. 

- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays if needed and/or company needs change.  This is rare.

- Internal candidates must have been with Beach Eye Care for 1 year, have a minimum of a 3.0 on their previous evaluation. There cannot be any disciplinary action on the candidate’s record within the last year.
