Reports to Manager. Plans, schedules, assigns, and coordinates the daily work of the research and education department. Coordinates short and long term goals and objectives for research and education department and upon approval, implements operational plans to accomplish these goals. Collects data, prepares reports, answers correspondence and provides monthly and annual data analysis.

Regulatory and Clinical Development
- Develops short and long term goals and objectives for research and education department and upon approval, implements operational plans to accomplish these goals.
- Plans, schedules, assigns, and coordinates the daily work of the research and education department including training and development, as well as recruiting.
- Oversees compliance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) as well as with government regulations and BCP's.
- Coordinates and oversee overall compliance with individual research protocols, including patient consenting, source documentation and completion of case report forms.
- Prepares, maintains and monitors annual research and education department budget, individual research trial budgets and oversees cost containment policies and activities.
- Oversees physician and staff scheduling functions applicable to research and education.
Evaluation and Assessment
- Reviews, negotiates, and handles preliminary approval of study contracts.
- Analyzes systems and procedures ensuring accurate recording and reporting and recommends changes to improve workflow and efficiency.
Communication
- Collects data, prepares reports, answers correspondence and provides monthly and annual data analysis.
- Prepares and submits protocols to the appropriate IRB, providing start-up information, as well as adverse event reporting, major adverse cardiac event reporting, annual updates and study closure documents.
- Compiles and maintains the Patient Page education book for patients and staff in the South Bend Office.
- Disseminates research protocol education to staff members who are in positions to support research (i.e., clinical directors, nurses, technicians, medical assistants and receptionists).
- Oversees Annual Fall CME project, including grant request writing and CME certification.
Data Management
- Handles data entry and analysis or research encounters; oversight of monitor visits and case report form transmission.
- Maintains, monitors, analyzes, and reconciles study related accounts receivable.
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department
- Completes other job-related duties and projects as assigned.

- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. RN license in State of Indiana is required. A minimum of 2 to 5 years of job-related experience is required. Previous clinical cardiovascular experience preferred. After January 1, 2014, candidates are required to have or obtain a BSN within five (5) years of employment as a Registered Nurse or will have the option to become certified in their area of specialty. The certification must be maintained based off of accrediting body standards.

Working Conditions
- Works in a hospital office and patient care environment.
Physical Demands
- Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e. to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs, lift up to 50 pounds, to position/lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds without assistance, provide CPR, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
