Beacon Light Behavioral Health System is looking for a Family Based Mental Health Professional who is responsible for coordination of treatment for their assigned caseload. To provide therapeutic support to the child/adolescent and family in specified areas of social, behavioral and emotional concern and needs that have been identified by the child/youth and family and addressed in the treatment plan. Strengthening and supporting the family to improve coping skills, educate family members on advocating and caring for their child, crisis stabilization, utilizing community resources, and coordination of care. To provide support to the child that facilitates the growth and development of the child and the development of therapeutic support skills in the parents, family members, educators and others to ensure that such support is maintained for the child as professional interventions are decreased and terminated. Family-Based Mental Health Services (FBMH) are designed to keep kids safe and living at home while helping parents/caregivers develop skills to help their children manage moods and behaviors.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate degree in psychiatry, psychology social work, education, nursing, rehabilitation or a graduate degree in the field of human services, plus two years' experience in a CASSP systems program.
  • Be a licensed registered nurse with five years of experience, including two in CASSP system program plus have the certification by the Department of Mental Health as a mental health family based worker.
  • Have a bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, rehabilitation, education, pre-med, theology, anthropology or a degree in the field of human services plus have the certification by the Office of Mental Health as a mental health family based worker.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires an active driver's license and a DMV check that is clear. Position may require travel in the communities served or state of Pennsylvania for position requirements 25-50% of the time. Travel to assist with individuals attending required appointments or visits as needed 5-10% of the time.

SUMMARY

Responsible for providing psychotherapy in the form of individual, group, or family therapy. This position will also provide psycho-education, provide coordination of treatment for their assigned caseload, make necessary referrals to support the consumers, and will provide services in a manner in which to support a whole health recovery approach to treatment.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Must have either:
    • A graduate degree from a college or university that is accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in a generally recognized clinical discipline in which the degree program includes a clinical practicum.
    • An equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). The Department will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency.
    • Is licensed in a generally recognized clinical discipline that includes mental health clinical experience.
  • Licensed and/or licensed eligible professional and prior experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write and type reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Typing skills and computer skills are required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Duties the employee performs that have a major impact on the delivery of services to our clientele

  • Completing intake sessions in a timely manner so that appropriate referrals can be made.
  • Documentation of important information and data in a timely and professional manner as prescribed by the program director.
  • Using the necessary treatment modality for instance; individual, group, couples, family, collateral therapy when appropriate as a means of treatment.
  • Encourage consumers to utilize the Common Ground Decision Support Center as a recovery tool and provide psychoeducation as appropriate.
  • Actively communicate with DSC staff as it relates to consumers wellness and social determinants of health, to include: assigning learning tracks, reviewing health reports, and making referrals to the DSC for classes and additional learning as appropriate.
  • Seek consultation when necessary to discuss client concerns so that informed treatment decisions can be made.
  • Scheduling appointments in a timely manner in the designated agency scheduling system.
  • Developing and updating treatment plans on clients in the designated time frame.
  • Completing progress notes after each clinical session.
  • If Licensed, will complete required credentialing information in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
  • Coordinating all aspects of treatment for the clients within their caseload in a professional and timely manner.
  • Completing Assessments and Reassessments as clinically appropriate and utilizing these tools to inform treatment and goal development.
  • Actively participating in the treatment planning process including attending treatment meetings when requested.
  • Ensuring that needed materials (handouts, outlines, syllabus, etc.) are available for therapy and training sessions.
  • Collaborating with other community resources for the benefit of the client.
  • Using Crisis/Emergency Management in a professional manner when required.
  • Knowing and functioning within the framework of the individual's Treatment Plan.
  • Scheduling therapy session in a timely manner.

COMPTENCY EXPECTATIONS

Must demonstrate during probation, first 90 days in position, and annually thereafter, competencies in the following areas:

  • Treatment Planning

  • Working indoors

  • Be exposed to individuals who have the potential to be hiv-positive, have hepatitis or other communicable diseases.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

This position requires participation in ongoing mandatory trainings while employed. Training requirements are detailed in the Training Matrix which is maintained by the Human Resources Department. Along with their supervisor, each staff person is responsible for reviewing the Training Matrix to determine individual training requirements and completing those requirements in a timely manner. Additional trainings in specific treatment modalities may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not directly supervise any other positions.

PHYSICAL/HEALTH ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

This position is required to have a pre-employment physical.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position gives preference to individuals with an active driver's license and a DMV check that is clear. Position may require travel to other licensed outpatient satellite locations.
