Global Supply Chain Controller

This is a critical integrator role within BSI, with key stakeholders including all Brand Houses, Operating Units, Global Engineering and Corporate Functions. Given the broad nature of the role, the candidate will develop strong connections, have clear visibility and the opportunity to influence key business decisions.
Role Responsibilities
This role will focus on investment management, planning and control and reporting for the Global Supply Chain function, including operations within manufacturing and warehousing facilities around the globe.
Overall Role Description:
A critical member of the GSC Finance Leadership Team, this role is responsible for providing strategic planning guidance, cash management and controlling oversight on a global basis.
With dotted-line reporting to BSI Controller, role is responsible for overall strong adherence to the Global Supply Chain Finance control environment with a particular focus on cash and both internal and shareholder reporting requirements.
This role leads Finance integration with Brand Houses, integrating long-term brand planning growth ambitions with near-in S&OP horizons & planning processes.
Leveraging a broad knowledge base, this role may be leaned upon to design process & ensure governance around complex projects, such as M&A or Corporate-driven initiatives
The GSC Controller works with a wide variety of global cross functional teams to guide cash & P&L decisions, liaise with Corporate and FP&A to address accounting and process inquiries and influence investment and timing decisions which have a long-term impact on BSI growth.
Long Term Integrated Investment Planning:
Support BSI Global Supply Chain in delivery of financial objectives across short & long term, facilitating strategic investment tradeoff discussions & serving as global process owner for critical metrics & tools including Return on Invested Capital (ROIC) and DCF Assessments
Partner with Engineering & Manufacturing to coordinate Global Capital Planning process and manage project level approval governance via the ELT Capital Committee.
Lead GSC’s critical, annual Maturing Inventory Review (MIR) process to collect and stress test long range demand forecast from Brand House and Commercial teams. Supports Regional GSC Finance by working with OU leaders to build liquid supply, balance sheet and cost outlook along with providing liquid capital investment recommendations
Integrate the MIR process with the Brand House planning cycle, leveraging tools & process to enable in-depth analysis, insights, and recommendations to enhance long term planning
Establish Sustainability investment principles & decision criteria, partnering with global program owners in support of regional / local project sell-through & delivery
Cash & Liquid Management:
Bring leadership oversight of Global Supply Chain cash positions including global planning and reporting of Capital and Inventory, and maintaining strong linkage to regional teams, brand houses and operating units.
Closely monitor key cash BSI drivers including Capital spend, Inventory levels and overall working capital balances against goals/targets throughout the year. Understand the impact of emerging trends to maintain ongoing cash R&O, enabling early insight & the organization to pivot investment decisions as opportunity allows & best support long term growth.
Regularly work with Supply Chain, Region and Brand House leadership across each liquid category to understand impactful commercial developments, changes to distillation plans and enabling agile recommendations & decision-making
Serves as primary Finance support covering reporting, forecasting assuring quality proposals & decision guidance for two key sales cash & cost optimization areas to GSC, global bulk liquid & used barrel sales
Maintain close linkage to Asia Region (Japan), to ensure solid understanding of actuals, plans and integration of planning cycles between BSI & Suntory
Controlling:
Risk & Compliance:
Lead Global Supply Chain Risk and Compliance activity including semiannual Risk and Compliance Forum, the semiannual CFO Letter creation, the attestation of the Management Representation Letter and financial Disclosure checklist.
Partner with SCLT and GSC Strategy to build & maintain sustainable infrastructure to embed Operational Resilience governance into existing SC functional workstreams
Financial Statements:
Oversee the monthly GSC financial close, providing technical leadership to plants & locations, and serving as an overall resource for financial recording decisions
Review Supply Chain local unit submissions and consolidated Supply Chain financial statement roll-up to ensure reporting accuracy
Lead quarterly Supply Chain balance sheet review processes, including oversight of account reconciliations & analyses as required over financial results to ensure compliance of Global Supply Chain financial statements with US GAAP and IFRS requirements
Enhance Controlling Environment:
Engage with both Internal and External audit functions to ensure a strong control environment, coordinate audit plans & ensure proposed remediation plans. Support and track resolution of all control deficiencies and audit comments
Provide technical leadership to Global Supply Chain functions and locations to implement effective and efficient controls.
Ensure policies are communicated and applied through training / orientation sessions with finance / reporting teams and functional control owners
Team & People
Lead center of excellence for global SC controlling, driving continuous improvement, forum for exchange & thought leadership across Global Supply Chain Financial Controllers.
Strengthen BSI Finance ways of working & efforts to streamline by enhancing relationships, facilitating cross-team discussions, and working through process gaps together
Attract, develop & retain talent – team of at least three direct / indirect reports
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline
MBA or CPA highly recommended
Minimum 7 to 10 years of accounting experience
Previous managerial responsibility required
Knowledge of SAP and BPC reporting systems a plus
