The Recreation Director primary purpose is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department to assure that an ongoing program of activities is designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
Requirements:
Must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who is licensed by MA and is eligible for certification as a recreation specialist or as an activities specialist; OR
Minimum 2 years experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, one of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting.
Position Highlights:
Center leadership position with a reporting relationship directly to the Nursing Home Administrator.
Plan individual and group programs in accordance with patient/residents' needs, preferences, interests, abilities, and consistent with treatment goals and interventions.
Prepare monthly calendars of activities, while meeting the needs of the residents
Train and provide supervision to recreation staff and volunteers
Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations, current economic conditions, as well as professional standards of practice, and make recommendations on changes in policies and procedures to the Administrator
Develop positive relationships with patient/resident's family and the community.
Use community resources to create or enhance recreation programs
