Job Description Summary
Join our dynamic team as a part-time bartending instructor and embark on an exciting journey of imparting knowledge and skills to aspiring bartenders. In this role, you will lead a comprehensive 50-hour bartending class where students will delve into the art and science of mixology, from setting up and breaking down a bar to delivering exceptional customer service. As an instructor, you will guide students through the intricacies of preparing and mixing a wide array of popular drinks, ensuring they master the techniques necessary to cater to diverse customer preferences. Whether it’s crafting classic cocktails or experimenting with contemporary creations, you’ll provide hands-on instruction and insightful tips to hone their craft. Beyond mixology, you will instill in students the importance of professionalism and etiquette behind the bar, empowering them with the soft skills necessary to thrive in the hospitality industry. Through engaging lessons and practical exercises, you will foster a supportive learning environment where students can develop confidence and competence. By the end of the course, students will emerge equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue top bartending positions with finesse and flair. Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years experience as a bartender and currently employed in the profession.

Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution. Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) certification or the ability to attain the certification as a condition of employment.

Essential Duties
Under direction of the Coordinator of HRD & Workforce Initiatives, the Continuing Education Bartending Instructor works cooperatively with BCCC staff to perform the following:
  • Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with course syllabus.
  • Maintain accurate registration, attendance, and payroll records for each course taught.
  • Prepare, review, and update course syllabus on a regular basis.
  • Recommend and assist with curriculum revisions as necessary.
  • Use formative and summative assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
  • Create an effective learning environment and use teaching methods designed for a variety of learning styles.
  • Submit required reports and fulfill all contract provisions.
  • Assist with maintaining a classroom environment emphasizing safety, good housekeeping, and equipment security.
  • Maintain student, instructor, and staff confidentiality. Consistently monitor work area to ensure instructor and student data is being protected according to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
  • Multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Adapt and respond to changing work situations and environments in a positive manner.
  • Participate in professional development activities designed to enhance job skills and knowledge, as agreed upon by the employee and supervisor.
  • Interact with students, the public, the community, and co-workers in a cooperative, courteous and professional manner.
  • Comply with the College’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities, as assigned by supervisor.
