What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiovascular Technologist position at Beaumont Health?
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for the technical component of Non-Invasive Cardiology procedures. Technical staff works with clinical nurse in the cardiac stress testing labs. Technical staff uses specific age and cultural related physical, intellectual, psychosocial, and developmental attributes in interactions with patients/families and hospital staff. Team effort required for QA/QI endeavors, customer satisfaction improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Performs adult diagnostic NI testing; stress, DCG/event monitoring, Tilt Table Testing, etc.
- Performs procedures using 12 lead ECG and the MUSE system with the ability to recognize life-threatening arrhythmias.
- Gathers and documents patient data prior to procedure, monitoring patient during procedure and completing post procedure data/ documentation. Order entry in EPIC.
- Documents all testings. Daily/monthly statistical logbooks.
- Performs procedures utilizing variety of technical equipment; exercise stress equipment, blood pressure equipment, DCG scanners, PC’s, etc.
- Interacts regularly with patient/families and staff.
- Performs daily inventory control, stocking and ordering of supplies; daily maintenance, cleaning of patient equipment, ensuring safety in the lab.
STANDARD QUALIFICATION
Education / Training:
- High school education, some college with emphasis on science and math.
Work Experience:
- Preferred: Certified Cardiovascular Technician or BS in Exercise Science (or degree in related health field) or 3-5 years previous stress testing experience. Preferred: Previous experience in EKG and Cardiac Stress Testing, familiarity with EKG interpretation.
Certification, Licensure, Registration:
- Department required mandatory education, i.e., BCLS.
- ·Current BCLS required.
Other Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in teams.
- Working knowledge of cardiology/non-invasive procedures and emergency preparedness.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to cross train to other jobs if necessary.
- Requires a high level of technical competence and the ability to change labs when volumes and/or patient acuity dictates.
