TITLE: Nature Center Coordinator
FACILITY: Beaver Creek Reserve is western Wisconsin’s premier environmental education and outdoor recreation facility located 12 miles east of Eau Claire. Beaver Creek is home to more than 400 acres of diverse habitat including upland woods, river bottoms forests, wetlands and savannah areas, as well as a Nature Center, Youth Camp, Citizen Science Center, Observatory, Charter Science School and seasonal Butterfly House.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities will be focused on several specific objectives with additional responsibilities that vary. The main duties of this position will include:
- Greet visitors at the Nature Center front desk
- Assist in responding to inquiries via general email, telephone, and in-person
- Assist the Facilities Director and Operations Manager with maintaining door locks and security system, cameras, and other security functions
- Responsible for opening and closing the Wise Nature Center M-F 9am-4pm (if there is not coverage at the desk)
- Manage, hire & train Nature Center Hosts for daily and weekend staffing
- Schedule staff and volunteers to cover shifts at the Nature Center front desk daily
- Schedule staff for on-call weekends
- Onboard all new Nature Center Hosts and volunteers
- Maintain Front Desk cash register
- Assist Nature Center Store Committee
- Responsible for Nature Center equipment rentals, including but not limited to the All-Terrain Track Wheelchair, Kayaks, Snowshoes, Cross-Country Skis
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to perform detailed work accurately within time limits and with minimal supervision:
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public
- Ability to proficiently operate standard office equipment including, but not limited to: copiers, telephone, personal computer, cash register POS System, and databases
WAGES/HOURS:
- The expected hourly salary will be based on qualifications and experience with a minimum rate of $16.00 per hour. Average 28-35 hours a week.
- Position will be Monday – Friday, some weekends throughout the year. The front desk must be covered during business hours by either a Host, Volunteer or Nature Center Coordinator.
