Project Overview:
The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) will safely destroy 2,611 tons of mustard agent in mortar rounds and artillery projectiles stored at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot (PCD) approximately 25 miles from Pueblo, Colorado. Neutralization followed by biotreatment is the technology selected by the Department of Defense to destroy the Pueblo chemical weapons stockpile. The PCAPP plant began the operations and munition destruction phase as of September 2016.
Candidates for unescorted access to the Chemical Limited Area must successfully clear National Agency Check with Local Check (NACLC). All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be physically fit and able to work safely at an operating plant. Eligible applicants must be a US Citizen and successfully go through a government screening process. Based on project goals and objectives, candidates established within our local community are desirable.
Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for execution and supervision of assigned activities within an engineering discipline in a global business unit on a specific project. This position applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering. The candidate will be interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines, other functional departments and the client in the development of the design; therefore, must have excellent communication skills to relay complex technical issues and recommended solutions to upper management, client and suppliers. This position requires a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline. This position requires a good knowledge of Bechtel’s administrative practices and supervisory experience.
The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) is looking for a Control Systems/Automation Deputy Engineering Group Supervisor at the Pueblo, CO location. This position will report to the Design/Automation Supervisor at the PCAPP project. This is a long-term assignment with a 4-10s schedule. The work hours are from 6:30am – 5:00pm Monday – Thursday. This position is forecast to be a normal dayshift, but as necessary support shift needs to cover gaps.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate must have experience and demonstrable proficiency in the following activities:
Review and coordination of documents with suppliers, other disciplines and customers- Coordination of technical issues with Startup & Commissioning
- Technical assistance to field Construction
- Generation and interpretation of basic engineering deliverables such as drawings, specifications, and Distributed Control System (DCS)/ Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) configurations
- Development of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Control Strategies
- Development of process control algorithms
- Input to and maintenance of DCS/PLC database programs
- Knowledge of major regulations and industry codes and standards applicable to instrumentation and controls
- Interpretation and application of codes & standards and customer design requirements in the preparation of Control Systems design products
In addition to the experience listed above, supervisory candidates must have the proven ability to lead the day-to-day technical work of the engineers, technologists and designers within their assigned group. Supervisory candidates may additionally:
Conduct employee performance appraisals in accordance with approved procedures,- Interface with functional management on technical and personnel issues,
- Provide training and guidance to their assigned team,
- Perform other assigned tasks and provide back-up support to the Design/Automation Supervisor
Qualifications and Skills:
Basic Qualifications
Level One:
- BS or advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited university or college with six (6) years of progressive related control systems design engineering experiene OR in lieu of degree, twelve (12) year’s related experience is required
- Candidate must have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in an engineering leadership or a supervisory role, including planning work and executing work on a budget
- U.S. citizen or the ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication, planning and organizational skills
- Must have a good knowledge of Bechtel’s administrative practices
- Must be physically fit and able to work safely in an operating facility.
Level Two:
- BS or advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited university or college with nine (9) years of progressive related control systems design engineering experience OR in lieu of degree, fifteen (15) year’s related experience is required
- Candidate must have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in an engineering leadership or a supervisory role, including planning work and executing work on a budget
- U.S. citizen or the ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication, planning and organizational skills
- Must have a good knowledge of Bechtel’s administrative practices
Preferred Qualifications
Current U.S. Professional Engineering License- Previous Bechtel and/or DOD project experience
- Knowledge of Bechtel guides and standards
- Lead or supervisory experience on large projects
- Programming experience in Siemens system, OPC programming.
This project is subject to the Army Regulations (AR50-6 Chemical Surety) which governs persons performing work under the Unescorted Access Program (UAP). Depending on the work performed and the access granted a government security investigation and other physical requirements such as respirators may be mandated. Eligibility to be placed in a UAP position requires US citizenship.
