Project Overview:

Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive-waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in southeastern Washington state. The $12.2 billion project will use vitrification technology to process and stabilize 53 million gallons (200 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste currently stored at the Hanford Site which is a byproduct of plutonium-production during World War II and the Cold War era.

The cleanup project is one of DOE’s most technically challenging and the largest undertaking of its kind – equivalent to building two nuclear power plants. The construction site spans 65 acres (26 hectares) and includes facilities for pretreatment, low-activity waste vitrification, and high-level waste vitrification, as well as an analytical laboratory. This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC. The position is located at the Construction Site (located 22 miles north of Richland, WA), with a 4/10 work schedule, Monday – Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Relocation is not authorized for this position.


Job Summary:

In this role, you will assist in the performance of office services functions, such as space allocation, staff meetings, catering, office moves, facility operations, security and access control, telecommunications, mail and shipping, messenger service, travel, office supplies, and furniture and equipment. Your knowledge of the office space will ensure unanticipated circumstances are successfully addressed. #LI-HB1


Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs the daily activities of office services functions, such as space allocation, office moves, facility operations, renovation activities, food services management, mail and shipping, maintains/inventories office supplies, furniture and equipment, and miscellaneous services
  • Participates in scheduling maintenance for copier/scanners
  • Participates in the development of new or improved systems and procedures to improve or maintain the quality of office services functions
  • Perform periodic walkdowns to identify and report deficiencies.
  • Schedules work activities, monitors schedules, and maintains necessary logs
  • Performs personnel administrative activities, such as performance feedback, mentoring, career development discussions, training, etc.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of personnel regarding facility-related topics and plans of action.
  • Maintains awareness of developments in equipment, software applications, technology, and processes related to applicable service area(s)
  • Prepares or provides input to work planning
  • Performs other Support Services work assignments as needed
  • Orders project and department supplies using a variety of purchasing methods
  • Coordinate with external vendors and


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of 4-6 years of related experience
  • Associate degree or related technical training preferred


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Performs moderately complex tasks
  • Has specialized expertise, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable work experience
  • Completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways
  • Works on difficult assignments requiring judgment and initiative
  • Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions
  • Minimal supervision with considerable latitude for judgment
  • Completes difficult assignments without assistance
  • May mentor less-experienced team members and assist supervisors
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ADA, and UBC.
  • Must be able to push, pull, or lift, up to 50 lbs., including bulky items. Utilize mechanical equipment or team member for weights above 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, ladders for extended periods (25-30% of the work-day).
