Residential Designer - CAD

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Residential Construction Designer with extensive experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD). The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and optimizing residential construction plans, ensuring they meet regulatory standards, specifications, and industry best practices. The candidate should have a strong background in architectural design, proficiency in CAD software, and a keen eye for creative and functional solutions.

Responsibilities 

• Collaborate with clients, architects, and project managers to understand project requirements and objectives.
• Create detailed and innovative residential construction plans using CAD software.
• Develop conceptual sketches and renderings to communicate design ideas effectively.
• Ensure that all construction plans adhere to local building codes, zoning regulations, and other relevant standards.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies to enhance design efficiency and compliance.
• Work closely with the project team to integrate design concepts into the overall project plan.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to address design-related issues during construction.
• Complete weekly reporting on schedule progress.
• Collaborate with the team to source and select appropriate materials for construction projects.
• Responsible for being the primary contact with city personnel, real estate brokers, attorneys, utility providers and lenders.
• Gather details and compiling data to estimate all construction costs according to specifications
• Oversight of entire RFP program for Development, Vertical Construction, or both, as assigned.
• Final vendor and proposal validation prior to filing/logging.
• Scope of work finalization and contract execution

Job Qualifications 

• At least 7 years of industry experience as a Commercial Construction Superintendent – management of commercial projects valued at a minimum of $5M 
• Keen eye for detail, and a strong foundation in enforcing and managing project schedules 
• Demonstrated competency of use of Microsoft Office (Outlook – e-mail) 
• Superior communication skills, and a professional demeanor are musts 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design, or a related field, preferred.
• Proven experience as a Residential Construction Designer, with a portfolio showcasing successful projects.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and other relevant design tools is a must.
• Strong understanding of residential construction principles, building codes, and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients and project teams.
• Detail-oriented with a creative mindset to develop aesthetically pleasing and functional designs.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices and materials is a plus.
