Utility Pipe Layer/Topman

Utility Pipe Layer/Topman must know trench safety and meet all OSHA guidelines. Needs to be familiar with all types of pipe, storm, and sewer installation and Commercial site work projects.

Qualifications:

UTILITY PIPE PIPELAYER/TOPMAN

· 2 year’s experience in pipe laying with the ability to install wet utilities and knowledgeable in utility construction (water/sewer/storm).

· 2 year’s experience in construction environment

· Flexibility to work overtime when needed/required

· Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels and/or lasers

· Lay out pipe routes following written instructions, blue prints or designed layouts

· Setup or use instruments such as smart levels, lasers, grade rods or transit levels

· Locate existing pipes for repair or replacement with hand tools or with the assistance of heavy equip

· Cut pipe to required length

· Connect pipe and seal joints with required seal applications

· Install or repair sanitary, storm and water structures

· Dig trenches to desired/required depths by hand or with trenching tools

· Grade or level trench bases using tamping machines or hand tools

· Pour and finish concrete for manhole base, or install prefabricated bases, sections, cones, rings and lids to required elevations

· Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines

· Cover pipes with earth or materials

· Operate walk behind trench compaction equipment, i.e. plate compactors, rollers, jumping jacks

· Have a good knowledge of site safety standards, trench box/shoring installation and safe trenching practices

· Ability to read blueprints and check grade stakes without assistance

· Ability to run Multiple Heavy equipment for example Loaders, Scrapers, Excavators, Graders and Bobcats efficiently

· Must have a valid driver's license with a clean MVR, preferably a CDL and able to pass a drug screen

· Reliable transportation to and from job site

· Flexibility to work overtime when needed/required

· Ability to work in extreme weather conditions

· Ability to lift and carry 70 lbs

· Ability to bend and twist continuously throughout the day.

· Must be able to communicate in English to employees and Site Superintendents

Pay: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour
