Under the supervision and/or direction of a Registered Nurse performs various duties assisting nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established nursing standards. These duties include nursing assistant or medical assistant, unit secretary skills, and phlebotomy.
Requirements:
One year experience preferred as a Unit administrative, Nursing Assistant/Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist.
Responsibilities:
- Phlebotomy technique, competence in venipuncture, micro collection, blood cultures, blood bank specimens and therapeutic phlebotomy.
- Ensures positive patient identification. Computer order entry. Enters orders in a timely manner and without any entry errors.
- Communication - consistently communicates in a positive manner with physicians, patients, families, and co-workers.
- Demonstrates ability to facilitate positive relationships with all contacts.
- Maintains objectivity and seeks to view all responses before forming conclusions.
- Accurate/timely functions.
- Completes tasks accurately and within required time frames.
- Manages frequent changes in departmental needs due to changing volumes.
- Equipment Operation.
- Maintains clean/stocked patient care area.
- Clinical Assistant Skill Proficiency.
- Assists nurses/therapists with patient preparation for examinations, treatments and/or procedures including performing/obtaining vital signs.
- Prioritizes.
- Demonstrates initiative.
- Readily seeks out duties and works with all staff to render assistance.
- Completes all duties in a positive and productive manner.
- Takes an active role in performance improvement.
- Conscious of biohazard safety as it relates to the job; manual delivery of specimens to lab, disposal of blood collection equipment, changing of gloves between patients.

- Knowledge Of Basic Computer Programs
- Able To Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members
- Able To Withstand Crisis Situations
- Has Skills To Provides Customer Service To Patients, Team Members And Visitors
- Completed A Course In Phlebotomy
Education - Essential:
- High school graduate or equivalent
