Job Summary
The Safety Associate works directly with a specified group of Drivers to maintain the highest level of safety and compliance with the Driver’s safety and company’s interest at the forefront of their day. This position is for a beginner to mid level safety associate. Those with 1-6 years of experience are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensure that all state and federal motor vehicle regulatory requirements are met.
- Seek out industry best practices and more effective and efficient methods to achieve Operational Excellence in Incident Prevention and DOT Compliance.
- Performs daily updates and regularly reviews data in Driver Qualification System for accuracy and compliance.
- Stays current on changes to and maintains a library of federal, state, and local transportation and environmental regulations.
- Prepare and submit required Federal and State DOT Trucking Registrations, Licensing, Compliance Reports, etc.
- Assist other departments with administrative duties.
- Aid with special projects as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be able to work full time, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, with overtime as needed.
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in transportation industry.
- Must have recent work history.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations regarding Driver qualifications and requirements.
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations, Drug & Alcohol.
- Proven track record working cross-functionally; ability to work well with all levels of team members with different backgrounds and needs.
- Must be able to work independently based on periodic guidance and direction - with excellent organization, accuracy, and follow-up skills.
- Time management: able to effectively work on multiple tasks at a given time and maintain a high performance on each task.
- Strong communication skills to include verbal and written.
- Able to use Microsoft Office Suite as well as various technology and web-based software.
- Must be able to perform tasks in a timely and safe matter.
