- Act as staff liaison to BHN’s Human Rights Committees.
- Recruit, orient, and train members of the BHN workforce to serve as human rights officers and coordinate their activities.
- Provide task supervision to BHN human rights officers by helping them to problem solve and troubleshoot a broad range of human rights issues of concern.
- Participate in organization licensing and accreditation activities and other quality activities.
- Serve on the BHN Quality, Compliance, and Clinical Risk Management Committees.
- Ensure the agency stays up to date with changes to rights-related regulations and policies.
- Maintain knowledge of current practices in rights protection through participation in training annually.
- Work collaboratively across BHN to form partnerships to facilitate continuous quality improvement.
- Address rights-related complaints.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field, management, public administration, social science, or a law degree required.
- At least five (5) years working in a supervisory and/or managerial capacity for a mental health, addictions, or developmental disabilities organization.
- At least two (2) years’ experience working in a human rights capacity in the areas of mental health, addictions, or developmental disabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand, explain and apply the statutes, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and standard guidelines governing assigned duties.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, establish and maintain harmonious working relationships.
- Ability to understand advocacy within a behavioral health agency.
- Must have a vehicle available for all working hours to be able to access agency residential and service sites within a wide geographic area.
